Web Development · Automation · Custom Agents
I’m Dennis McCarthy. 25 years building automated solutions for financial institutions and technology vendors. Now I build websites, automate processes, and create custom AI agents that help small businesses work smarter.
About
I’ve spent 25 years creating automated solutions across multiple operating systems, services and processes for financial institutions and major technology vendors. That same engineering discipline now goes into every project, whether it’s a website for a local café, a custom AI agent that handles your admin, or accounting software that hooks into Google Sheets.
I’ve built everything from audiobook platforms and IoT devices to Reddit bots and 3D space combat games. When you work with me, you’re getting someone who doesn’t just design websites. I build and ship real software for a living.
What I’ve Built
Service
Professional, modern websites for local businesses. Mobile-first, fast-loading, and designed to turn visitors into customers. From single-page sites to full builds, I handle the lot.
Platform
A fully working audiobook platform for independent authors. Turn your stories into professional audiobooks with AI voice generation and reach listeners directly.
IoT · Hardware
An ESP32-S3 smart display that puts your world at a glance. Live weather, UK train times, crypto prices, F1 standings, news headlines and messages, all on a beautiful 1.91″ AMOLED touchscreen.
> SYSTEM: Space Refuse Collector MK-IV
> STATUS: Black transponder active
> MISSION: Intercept House Cayston corvette
> WEAPON: Bio-waste container armed
> OBJECTIVE: Save the Royal Yacht
> LAUNCH GAME? [Y]
Game · 3D
A 3D space combat game built from scratch. Pilot a garbage hauler through hostile territory, arm bio-waste containers as improvised weapons, and save a Royal Yacht from assassination. Retro terminal aesthetics, real-time flight mechanics.
Training & YouTube
I’ve delivered “DevOps for Operations” workshops and written training courses where people learn by doing: real AWS infrastructure, real CI/CD pipelines, real monitoring stacks. My approach: starter code and lots of demos. Always.
Video tutorials and walkthroughs on automation tools, infrastructure as code, and DevOps practices. Check out my videos here.
Community
For several years I ran free community meetups in London, exploring infrastructure-as-code topics with hands-on sessions and live demos. Currently on hiatus, but the community and the learning lives on.
